Daily Announcements - April 28, 2017

School News:
Hairspray the musical is coming to South!  Come support your classmates as they travel through the 60’s!  Get you tickets now at or at Posterity Gallery. Show times are April 28-29 at 7:30 PM and April 30 at 2 pm.

Dancing with the South Stars is back! Mr. Kim, Ms. Orban, Ms. McCulloch, Mr. Palen, Ms. Lee, Ms. Schmidt, Mrs. Wolfe, and the duo of Mr. Monahan & Mr. Campion will all be competing for the grand prize as South’s dance champion. See them show off their dance moves on Friday, May 5th in the auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 PM and tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults.

Peer to Peer will be holding a bake sale and selling autism awareness bracelets during both lunches today.

Seniors: If you have not picked up your lawn sign yet, please stop in the main office to pick up your lawn sign.

Seniors: if you did not pick up your Senior announcement order from Jostens, please pick the order up in the Student Activities office. All paid in full orders are in the Student Activities office. If you owed a balance on your order, you must contact Jostens.

Seniors: If you have a cumulative gpa of 3.5 and above, you will be invited to Senior Honors night. Please fill out an Honors night data sheet, which is available on South’s website or the Student Activities office. The data sheet contains the information we need to plan for the evening. The data sheet is due in the Student Activities office by Monday, May 1st

Interested in a trip to Spain, France, and Italy over February break 2018? Find out more information on this trip planned by Ms. Lee and Mrs. Caralis on Wednesday, May 3rd. All students are welcome to join this trip around the Mediterranean. Stops include Barcelona, Nice, Florence, Pisa, and Rome! Join us in Room 180 at 3:30 to find out the cost, itinerary, and more! Parents are welcome to attend as well.

On Friday, May 5th we will be hosting a presentation of the District’s Diversity Plan for any South student that wishes to attend.  We will meet in Cleminson Hall during the lunch periods.  There is no need to sign up.  Students that are interested in learning about the Diversity Plan need only show up with their lunch for the presentation.

Club News:  
The Senior Class composite is available for purchase in room 118, after school only, for $25.00. The last day to purchase a composite is May 10th. Please make checks payable to Grosse Pointe South . If you think you ordered a composite at registration, please stop by room 118, after school only.

Would you like to help lead a volunteer service organization? Interact Service Club seeks students willing to serve and lead next year.  See Mr. Cox in room 297 for details.

There is a BASE meeting today right after school in Mr. Pascoe's room, room 184. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you all there.

Interested in Quidditch and want to know what it is about? Join us on the front lawn after school today. There's always room for one more Wizard.                                                    

Congratulation goes out to South Sailors who competed in the High School Regional Team racing and fleet racing championships this past weekend in Columbus Ohio.

Your south sailors placed first in both fleet and team racing competitions. Winning sailors were Johnny Walton, Blake Stackpoole, Caroline Seski, Kaitlin Malley, Taft Peck, Jake Orhan, Grace Paschke and Christiana Schiebner.
