PSAT Information


Wednesday, October 14, 2015

All freshmen, sophomores and Juniors will take the PSAT

Testing will be from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Students will be dismissed after testing. There is NO SCHOOL for Seniors. Testers should bring an approved calculator, no . 2 pencils and know their ID number.  No cell phones are allowed.

    Congratulations to the Grosse Pointe South High School Symphony Orchestra who received straight, First Division (Superior) ratings on May 2, 2015 at the MSBOA State Band & Orchestra Festival held at Ann Arbor Skyline High School.  The South Symphony Orchestra performed an adjudicated  program of music including Simple Symphony by Benjamin Britten, Of Glorious Plumage by Richard Meyer and the Serenade for Strings of Piotr Tchaikovsky and also participated in adjudicated sight-reading.

Daily News - October 8th

School News:
Students can pick up their LifeTouch photos during both lunches in the main hall today.

Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors will all take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 14.  Room assignments and important information is posted in the first cross hall in the main building.  Testing will start promptly at 8:00 am and end at 12:00 pm.  Students are dismissed for the day after testing concludes.  There is no school for seniors. 

South is planning its annual trip in March to Washington DC.  If you were unable to attend Wednesday’s informational meeting there is still time to get details about the trip and sign up to go.  Please see Ms. Siemaszko in room 172 in the S Building before or after school to get the information.

Club News:
Those of you interested in student government such as a class officer, senator, or ambassador for the class of 2019, please join us every Friday morning at 7:20 a.m. in room 198.  Be a part of the decision making process!  All freshmen are welcome to attend!

Interested in the conservative movement?  Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) meets every Thursday after school in room 198.  All students are welcome!

All students who are interested in participating in Peer to peer this year will need to attend 2 training sessions today and Friday of this week.  Both days the training will be offered before school (7:20) or after school until 3:40.  Students who are new to the program MUST attend these 2 training sessions.  If there is a problem, please contact Mrs. Martinuzzi or Mrs. Teolis in room 102.  After the Friday training, you will receive your schedule.

All NHS Members, there is a mandatory meeting from 3:10-4:00 in the Auditorium on Monday, October 12th.  Your attendance is expected and appreciated.  Also, if you are interested and available to earn Service Hours this Sunday from 1:30-4:30, please see Ms. Kurtz in Room 222 ASAP

French students. There will be a French club meeting this Friday morning at 7:30 am in Madame Moon's room. Room 206. Come help us plan the details of next week's event.  Refreshments will be served.

Interact service club meets today. Please join us after school in room 297.

The Grosse Pointe Blue Dolphins synchronized swimming team is getting ready to start their season. They are welcoming old and new potential members of varying levels of experience. The Blue Dolphins are a combined team of South and North. If this opportunity appeals to you please contact Coach Lauren & Coach Jessie at

Inviting all new and returning girls interested in playing girls lacrosse! There will be a meeting in the Student Commons tonight at 7:30 PM. Meet the coaches and learn about conditioning opportunities!

The girls swimming and diving team lost to Eisenhower 92-94 last night.  First place finishers for South were Clarice Fisher in the 100 butterfly, Claire Young in the 100 backstroke, and the 200 free relay of Abbey Schuetze, Caroline Frederickson, Jackie DeLoof, and Sarah Cauvel.  Second place finisher for South included Brigit Jogan, Sarah McCabe, Ava Boutrous, and Renee Liu.

Congratulations to our girls cross country team.  The girls raced to the conference championship in both varsity and junior varsity divisions this week finishing with a combined record of 28 wins and no losses.  Our top seven varsity runners this week included Anna Piccione, Kamryn Leonard, Reanna Raymond, Natasha Boelstler, Katie Kuhr, Abbey Guevara, and Maddie McDonnell. Congratulations girls cross country!
