  • Gymnastics League Champs!

    Congratulations to the gymnastics team for winning the League Championships!  Grosse Pointe Gymnasts also won multiple individual titles - Isabelle N won the division 1 all-around, vault, bars, and floor championships, Maria N won the division 1 beam and floor championships and Michelle E won the division 2 all-around, bars, and floor titles. Gyanei' J also finished second in division 2 all-around and Brenna B, Chandler M, and Rachel R all medalled in several events.

School News:
South students, it’s AP STUDY TIME.  Remember to Shmoop yourself to success. Log in information can be found on the Library TEST PREP page.   Magic Word this year is COLOSSAL.   

Seniors:  Would to give your class’s commencement speech?  Remember, speeches are due on Tuesday.  You will need to send a copy to Ms. Peck and Ms. Rabidoux via email, and you will also need to give a hard copy to Ms. Peck.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Peck in room 248. 

Seniors, if your parents ordered a lawn sign for you and did not pick it up at Senior Parents’ night; you can pick it up in Ms. Rabidoux’s room today or Wednesday.

AP government and politics students:  Mr. Rennell will be holding AP review sessions Tuesday and Thursday at 7 AM in his room.  The reviews will be in chronological order as to how the course was presented to you.


MARY POPPINS, the All School Musical, begins on Thursday April 30th and runs through Sunday May 3rd.  It will be performed at the Grosse Pointe Performing Arts Center.  Student Balcony tickets for MARY POPPINS will be on sale during 1st and 2nd lunch on both Thursday and Friday in the main hall.  The tickets are $5 each. Please stop by to purchase your student priced ticket.  Otherwise, you can purchase full priced balcony or main floor seating at the door, prior to each performance.  For more information look for the posters on the bulletin boards around the school.

Club News:
Class of 2017: Do you want a say in your Junior year Homecoming theme?  If so, there will be a Homecoming Theme suggestion box in Ms. Mitzel’s office all this week for you to share your ideas!  Make sure to stop by and share your ideas!

Is your dating life not quite what you'd like it to be?  Take matters into your own hands at the Date Auction Thursday from 7 -9 PM where some of South's best and a wide variety of dates will be available!  Anyone is welcome to bid and tickets will be available during school and at the door.

Members of the Spanish Honor Society: The Spring Induction Ceremony will be taking place tonight @ 7:30 pm in the South Auditorium. All members are expected to attend this important ceremony as we are looking to induct 68 new members to the society. If you cannot attend, please email or visit Mrs. Truza in room 242 ASAP. Please come dressed in appropriate spring attire and arrive no later than 7:20 pm.

Feminists United will meet tomorrow morning at 7:20 AM in room 297. You are welcome to join us!

BASEBALL FANS! The Varsity baseball team will play cross-town rival North in The Battle of the Pointes, next Tuesday, April 28th at 5:30 PM at Comerica Park, the home of the Detroit Tigers!  Yes, you heard that correctly, Comerica Park!  Tickets may be purchased from any Varsity player and in the athletic office for only $10.  They will also be available at the door on game day.  Don't miss this opportunity to experience one of the best rivalries in high school baseball. Get your tickets today!

The men’s track team finished 5th of 11 teams at last Friday’s titan relays. Our medalists were all in for 3rd place bronze: The pole vault team of Shane Smith, Mike Mitchell, and Estefano Lopez, the discus team of Pat Nauert, Andrew Sharp, and Mitch Donovan, the shot put team of Andrew Sharp, Pat Nauert and Horatio Williams and the sprint medley relays of Eric Leavy, Henry Wilson, Garret Hudson and Billy Michels. The team heads across town tomorrow for a dual meet at Grosse Pointe North at 4pm

Our girls track team remains undefeated.  The girls raced to a 124 to 13 win over Stevenson this past week and over the weekend placed first among 12 teams at the Titan Relays.  Congratulations girls track and good luck tomorrow against Grosse Pointe North.

The varsity softball team won the Blue Devil softball tournament on Saturday, going 3-0 on the day.  South defeated Rochester, Warren Woods-Tower, and Liggett.  The Lady Devils were led by the tremendous hitting of Grace Foster who had a home run, a triple, and two doubles on the day.  Mia Betanzos recorded her first pitching victory when she defeated Woods-Tower 13-8.  South is 13-0 on the season.
