Poupard Announcements

  • March 22, 2017

    Dear Poupard Families,

As Penny Stocks shared with you, she has decided to retire effective July 1, 2017.  Please join me in congratulating Principal Stocks as she embarks on her next adventure.  While I am personally excited for her, I know that her leadership and vision will be missed at Poupard.

While we want to thank Penny for her years of service, we also need to make every effort to identify a new outstanding principal for the 2017-18 school year and beyond.  GPPSS is committed to an inclusive process that will be used to select the next principal of Poupard Elementary School.

One of the methods Poupard parents and community members can use to provide input into the principal selection process is by completing the Parent/Staff Input survey A link to the survey has been provided here. Please complete the survey by Friday, March 31th.  The data gathered by this survey will be used to develop the profile that will be shared with the Poupard principal interview teams.

In addition to the survey, I will be hosting an informal opportunity for parents to meet with me to discuss their specific input regarding the candidate profile for this important position.  Parents are welcome to meet with me at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 11th in the Poupard library, to discuss the selection process and share input.  Please consider attending this important meeting.  If you are unable to attend this meeting, you are encouraged to complete the survey or to contact me directly.

Finally, we will need parents to participate as part of the interview process.  We will need parent volunteers for the interviews April 17 from noon-7 p.m., and April 21 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., in the administration building at 389 St. Clair Avenue, Grosse Pointe. If you would like to participate as a parent in this process, please email me as soon as possible and provide your name along with the name(s) and grade(s) of your children at Poupard.

If at any time in the process you have a question, please feel free to contact me directly at jon.dean@gpschools.org or at (313) 432-3015.

    Jon Dean

    Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services
