College Board
 
Here are some helpful tips for parents and students regarding PSAT & SAT scores. The following link provides instructions for students to create a College Board account, link their account with their PSAT/SAT registration number and how to send SAT scores (Juniors) to universities and colleges.
 

 Summary

  • Pg. 6: Create a College Board account
  • Pg. 14: Linking a Registration number and an Account
  • Pg. 18: Sending SAT scores to colleges (free until May 16th)
  • Students will receive their electronic scores in their College Board portal on Wednesday, May 18th
  • This includes the PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10 and SAT (Juniors) 

 
Beginning second semester, the new Tardy Policy and revised  Personal Electronic Device Policy will be in effect.

Daily News - May 25th

School News:
Seniors, please check the list for the all-night party to make sure you are signed up.  If you have not signed up, please check the South website to sign up.  Also, if you haven’t turned in a baby picture yet, turn it in to the main office with your name on it.

Have you ever wanted to go to China?  Get a better understanding of a foreign culture?  See the Great Wall of China? Mr. Pascoe and Mrs. Caralis are planning a trip to China! If you are interested there will be a meeting in Mr. Pascoe’s room 184 on Thursday at 3:15 PM.

Any senior that was invited to Senior Honors Night and did not attend, please stop by the Student Activities office and pick up your Certificate(s).  Also, there are still senior graduation announcements that need to be picked up as well.

2016-2017 Co-op Students: Please check your SCHOOL email for an important announcement from Mrs. Moretz.  Please see Mrs. Moretz with any questions or concerns

Interact club is holding a cereal box drive until Friday June 3rd.  Students can bring cereal boxes or money donations to their third hour to benefit the Gleaners food bank.  The third hour with the most cereal boxes collected will win a pizza and doughnut party.

Club News: 
All Junior NHS members.  Please pick up a T-shirt order form in the counseling center.  The form is due Friday in the counseling center. 

Arabic Culture Club meeting May 26 at 7:15 a.m. in Ms. Peck's room (248).  We will be discussing our field trip out to the Arab-American Museum and Habib's Middle Eastern Restaurant. Contact Amelia Abouljoud or Isaac Kado with any questions.

Students: Please pick up your yearbook in room 118 during lunches and after school through Thursday. ALL Students must have some form of ID to receive their book. If you want to purchase a yearbook the cost is $75.00 and checks can be made out to Grosse Pointe South.

Calling all Thespians! Any and all Fall Play/One-Act/Musical participants: The final Pointe Players meeting of the year will be Tuesday, May 31st @ 3:10 p.m. in Ms. Dunham’s room – 401. Nominations & voting will be held for next year’s officers, and for this season’s student awarded honors! Thespian membership information and banquet scoops will be disseminated. Please be prompt and bring a writing implement.

Students from Mr. Monaghan’s, Mr. Geresy’s and Mrs. Lulis’s classes are all part of the South Student Film Festival. The program of funny, dramatic, educational, experimental and musical short films screens at 7 p.m. Thursday in the South Auditorium and is open to the entire community. Admission is free.

Young Americans for Freedom will be meeting Thursday at 3:10 p.m. in room 198.  On the agenda will be officer elections for the 2016-2017 school year. 

Join the Ufology and Paranormal Club today after school when we look at the Bermuda Triangle, Nessie, the Ping!, Atlantis, and other H-2-0 topics. It’s bound to be a good time for all. See you in the Thunderdome at 3:15 PM. Snacks provided!

Sports:
For all boys interested in trying out for the boys tennis team next August there will be a short meeting after school Thursday, May 26th at 3:10 PM in the conference room in the fitness center.  This meeting is for all boys currently on the tennis team and any new boys who would like to try out.

Come out and support the girls’ varsity lacrosse team Thursday as they play Troy Athens at 6 PM on GPS home turf for our first playoff game.

Congratulations to the boy’s track team! Sasha Szura was the MAC red division meet 400 m champion yesterday. Other medalists were 3rd places to the 4 x 800 relay of Matt Oliver, Mike Grady, Nate Barbish, and Evan Sutherland and the 4 x 100 relay of Jhordan Rush,Jay Verlinden,Eric Leavy,and Hank Wilson. Rush and Wilson also went 5th and 6th in the 100 meters. The 4 x 400 relay rounded out relay bronzes legged out by Szura, Grady, Barbish and Oronde Branch. Branch also took 6th in the 200 m. In the field Pat Nauert and Steve Weideman placed 3rd and 5th in discus and the phantom gypsy Chris Marinescu took 6th in high jump. Select freshmen & sophomores head over to North later today for a 9th and 10th grade invitational
