School News:
Seniors: If you would like to try out to give a speech at this year’s graduation, your speeches are due to Mrs. Roebuck by Wednesday, April 26th in room 312.

Need help in preparing for the SAT? Link your College Board account to the Kahn Academy where you can receive helpful remediation and support specific to your fall PSAT scores. There are also practice tests available which provide you with an explanation of how problems were solved.

Do you want to Hack a computer and win a prize? Are you the best Hacker at South? Test your skills against other students during The 2nd Annual Raspberry Pi Hack Contest kicking off this week. Sign up your team in room 292 with Mr. Provenzano this week before all of the space have been filled. There will be a meeting on Thursday March 30 in room 292 to get your hacker kit. Please see Mr P with any questions.

The mother’s club will be having Scholarship interviews beginning on Tuesday, April 18th. Seniors who submitted a Mothers’ Club scholarship application to stop by the counseling center to sign up for an interview time.

Club News:  
ALL students currently taking a Spanish class at South! World Language Week will be April 24th-28th this year and we have some great t-shirts to represent the Spanish language!! The online cart closes on April 3rd so don’t miss out on getting this cool new shirt and participating in World Language Week with your classmates!

Auditions for the 2017/18 Choirs will be held this week.  All current high school students are invited to audition for the award-winning choral ensembles at South that include, Sounds of South, South Singers, The Tower Belles and The Pointe Singers.  If you are not a current student in choir, but would like to audition for one of the choirs, please come to open auditions on Wednesday in the South Choir Room (Room 23) at 3:15 PM.  Audition packets are available online at www.gpsouthchoir.org or you can pick-up information in the choir room. 

Date Auction Participants!! There is a mandatory meeting in Mrs. Roebuck’s room Wednesday at 7:20 AM.

The Spanish Club will be selling unique, colorful, hand-woven bracelets, called pulseras in Spanish, for only $5 during both lunches all this week.  Come get your bracelet!  The Pulsera Project is a non-profit organization that educates, empowers and connects Nicaraguan artists with students across the United States.

Upper classmen: Anyone interested in joining Link Crew next year please pick up an application from Mr. Pascoe in room 184.  All applications will be due April 11 to Mr. Pascoe

The library will be closed for both lunches on Wednesday and Thursday due to the National Spanish Exam.

GSA will be meeting today, after school, in the library

Gamer club will meet after school on Wednesday in the greenhouse room.

All Varsity Club Members – Due to Spring Break and SAT Testing the April meeting will be Wednesday March 29 at 7:30 in the Auditorium. We will be handing out the Athletic Boosters Scholarship Applications as well as Officer Applications at this meeting.

All CURRENT National Honor Society Members:  The Hour Deadline is April 11th.  Please look at the Google Drive to check the status of your requirements.  A reminder that you must have 10 In School and 20 Out of School Hours in order to remain a member of the National Honor Society by this Deadline.  There will be no exceptions.  Please see Mrs. Kline in Room 222 before or after school Tuesday and Thursday of this week if you have any questions.

Fans of ET, Mothman, & the Chup: join the Ufology and Paranormal Club this Wednesday after school in the Thunderdome for the long-awaited, most fantastical, meeting of historic proportions as we make Charlie's dream come true. Live long and prosper!

Sports:
The Men’s Track team opened the season at the Macomb Indoor Championships yesterday in a field of 10 teams. ED KOTULA PLACED 4TH IN HURDLES AND CHARLIE CIELESKA WAS 8TH. NATE VORHEES TOOK 6TH IN THE MILE. MEDALISTS INCLUDED 600 METER CHAMPION BASHER ABOULJOUD. HE ALSO PLACED 4TH IN LONG JUMP. ALSO TAKING 1ST WAS THE 4 X 800 RELAY POPPED BY SASHA SZURA, MATT OLIVER, NATE BARBISH AND BLAKE WEAVER. 2ND PLACE SILVER WAS WON BY ORONDE BRANCH IN 300 M & ROCK WILLIAMSON IN THE 3200 M RUN
