School News:
Seniors.  Required for graduation is the Senior Survey.  You must complete the survey on Naviance in order to walk across that stage.  You will find the link to the survey in the blue box on your Naviance page.  

Registration is open on South’s website for the Out of the Darkness campus walk on June 4th from 9 AM to noon. The goal of the walk is to raise money to raise awareness about mental health. If you are interested in participating, please sign up on through South’s website today!!

Students: You can pick up your yearbooks in room 118 in the IA Building today both lunches and after school.  Must have ID!

The South Student Film Festival is Wednesday, May 31 at 7 p.m. in South’s auditorium. See nearly 20 new short films from students in Mr. Geresy’s and Mr. Monaghan’s classes. Titles include everything from the horror film “Paranormal Prescription” to the dog love story “Doodles’ Day Out.” Admission is free and the event is open to the community.

Club News: If you are interested in having your Club represented at Registration which will take place August 21, 22, 23, 24, please see Mrs. Moreland in the main office, before June 15th to reserve a table for you.

South' award-winning choir is hosting its final performance of the year tonight at 7pm at the Performing Arts Center.  "Broadway" will feature all the choirs, but it stars each of the senior in choir performing their senior solo!  Come and root on your favorite senior at 7 pm.  You can purchase your tickets online at www. GPSouthChoir.org and at Posterity in the Village!

Spike ball will meet after school today.

Architecture Club will be meeting Wednesday MORNING at 7:30 AM in room 215.  We have a chance to tour the Detroit Athletic Club for our last field trip of the year.  This will be our last meeting of the year and next year’s president will be announced.  Club members interested in being president need to interview with Ms. Dolson before next Wednesday’s meeting

Sports:
Good Luck your South Sailing team as it travels to Old Dominion University this weekend for the High School United States National Championship. Representing South at the US Championships will be Jake Orhan, Kaitlin Malley, Caroline Seski, Blake Stackpoole, Johnny Walton, Taft Peck, Christiana Scheibner, Dominic Dulac. Your state champion South Sailors will be one of 12 teams in the nation competing for the title. Wish them luck.

Blue Devil Men’s Track finished 4th in the MAC Red League meet Tuesday. Sasha Szura was League Champ in the 400 m while Mike Grady took 4th. Ed Kotula was 2nd in high hurdles. Matt Calcaterra was 2nd in 300 hurdles and Kotula took 7th. The 4 x 800 relay of Matt Oliver, Nate Barbish, Jack Galsterer and Sasha Szura placed 2nd, while the 4  x  400 relay of Oronde Branch, Barbish, Calcaterra & Grady also grabbed a silver. The discus squad of Pat Nauert, Andrew Sharp and Steve Weideman went 2nd, 5th & 6th. Chris Marinescu was 5th in long jump & 7th in high jump. Jeevan Telang was 7th in pole vault. Our top sprinters were Jorhdan Rush 3rd & Hank Wilson 6th in the 100 meters. The 4 x 100 relay of Rush, Branch, Wilson & Eric Leavy was 3rd. The distance runners finished a terrific year with Blake Weaver 3rd in the mile. Freshman Basher Abouljoud 6th in the 800 m & Rock Williamson 6th in the 2 mile.

The South boy’s golf team was crowned MAC Red division champions on Thursday in East Lansing with an overall team score of 296, winning by 49 shots.  Low scorers were:  Tommy Sullivan 68, Patrick Sullivan 75, Evan Theros 76, and Oliver Livingston 77.  On Wednesday the team travels to Dearborn Country Club for Regionals.
